New Delhi: As India prepares to adopt 5G technology, next-generation cellular network will not only open up new opportunities in public safety and business, but will also have a major impact on online gaming, experts said on Sunday of industry.
Experts believe that 5G can lead to a dynamic shift in how and what types of video games are played.
“With the multifaceted transformational power of 5G, the future of multiplayer gaming will witness a turbo boost,” Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, told IANS.
“The high speed, ultra-high bandwidth and ultra-low latency of mmWave5G will allow you to create truly disturbing, richer and intrinsically more immersive gaming experiences that support realistic graphics,” Ram added.
Ram mentioned that the future of 5G will allow players to adopt games in the cloud, which will allow them to enjoy top-notch gaming experiences anytime, anywhere from their smart personal devices, without the need for invest in gaming hardware.
Experts also stressed that 5G could be the answer to the latency problem of cloud-based gaming.
“Of all the technological transitions, we believe that 5G will fundamentally change the way we experience games,” said Tarun Pathak, director of Counterpoint Research.
“High bandwidth and low latency will allow for many use cases and make case developers able to play high-performance games,” he added.
The Indian online gaming market is on a strong growth path with over 300 million players in the country.
The game now requires graphics and has an immersive experience through augmented reality (RA) and virtual reality (VR), it needs a faster, lower latency network to support and deliver a seamless experience. That’s where 5G is once again critical, ”Faisal Kawoosa, founder and chief analyst at techARC, told IANS.
Madhav Sheth, vice president, realm, and CEO of realm, india and europe, also stressed that AR and VR, which are the key use cases of 5G, will lead to more immersive games, blurring the lines between real and virtual.
He also mentioned that while the network has its inherent strengths, smartphones with powerful 5G processors will also act as growth engines.
“Superior octa-core processors with a clock speed of up to 2.4 GHz ensure that users achieve maximum performance while playing,” Sheth said.
“Advanced nanoscale processors can drive long, intensive gaming sessions, with much more CPU performance, faster graphics, and reduced power consumption,” he noted.
