Black Coffee shows viewers an inside look at the creation of their virtual reality avatar for PRISM
Electronic music is known to push the boundaries of the way viewers experience performances. No example is better than Sensorium Galaxy PRISM, a series of concerts by some of the most popular DJs in the world in an immersive virtual reality world. Until now it was not known how the process to transport these DJs to the digital world worked. But South African producer Black coffee offers us a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of his PRISM avatar with his new YouTube video.
The video shows the level of complexity needed to create an experience like PRISM. We see the coffee in a suit with cameras tied to it, all while being surrounded by a completely different set of cameras, while playing a set. At the end of the video, we can take a look at the edit of how the creators bring this experience to life and the time it takes to give a virtual reality experience.
“It’s crazy. It’s something I never really thought would enter our space, like the world of DJs. We’ve just played cassette records in cities, and I think that’s the future, you know. To be able to bring the music at this level, I love trying new things, I love exploring ”. – Black Coffee, YouTube
Sensorium Galaxy is a digital metaverse for virtual reality users. With the creation of PRISM, the company will now be able to have a virtual world to “host next-level performances by the world’s leading electronic music artists.” Other artists include Carl Cox, David Guetta, Eric Prydz, Charlotte de Witte, Armin van Buuren i Dimitri Vegas and Like Mike.
“I think it’s beautiful, you know. Not just now during the pandemic, even after, because music is such an important thing to people. It has so much healing and brings so much comfort. Therefore, if we can improve the way they consume the music you know and, through virtual reality, they can feel like they are in a club and see their favorite DJ playing music and be in the moment ”. – Black Coffee, YouTube
