You may enjoy the summer weather right now, but the winter season isn’t too far away and what better way to enjoy those cold months than with a ski spot, of course, digitally. Independent virtual reality (VR) developer DGMA has unveiled the first trailer for its upcoming title VR skiing for PC VR Headphones
Designed as a ski simulator with single and multiplayer modes, VR skiing will offer four game modes for players to compete. They will be able to compete against friends or participate in cooperative competitions, while a more arcade mode drops coins in the fields.
These will not be the usual professional ski slopes for their sound, with DGMA revealing that skiers will need to be mindful. Courses will include obstacles, bonuses and dangers as players seek victory, and wild animals also appear.
When it comes to maintaining control, realistic mechanics include a combination of ski poles and head movement to guide skiers down the slopes. So expect a decent shoulder workout when you go for the best moments and remember to bend your knees.
DGMA is currently waiting to launch VR skiing at Steam and Oculus stores this October, though no specific date has been mentioned during the month.
VR skiing will join a slowly growing line of virtual reality winter sports titles Cut snowboarding published a few months ago by Oculus Quest or there Powder VR by Terje Haakonsen which began an early access launch last year.
