A new video details the specifications and features of Sony headphones
A new report has emerged from PSVR Without Parole, which indicates some details about the upcoming PlayStation VR headphones. This emerged from a conference held to inform developers about the headphones, which UploadVR independently corroborates.
The detailed specs match some of UploadVR’s previous reports on Sony’s next headphones. This means a resolution of 4000 × 2040 pixels (or 2000 × 2040 for each eye), as well as support for eye tracking.
The PSVR Without Parole video also states that the device, codenamed NGVR or next-generation virtual reality, uses a Fresnel OLED display with a 110-degree field of view. They also say that headset optics is one thing and that controllers will be incorporated with headphones, both with adaptive triggers and capacitive touch sensors.
You can find more information from the previous PSVR Without Parole report, which includes a further discussion of the right angle for future VR games to be hybrid or playable on a flat screen or PlayStation VR. His report also says that the new headphones will not be released in 2021, but that details will be revealed early next year.
It has always been a bit difficult to judge where virtual reality is, as do game-changing experiences Half-Life: Alyx shaking the scene and other news make things seem unstable. The possibility of next-generation consoles fueling virtual reality is certainly fascinating, and Sony headphones were one of the easiest and cheapest ways to enter the market, even if other headphone developers update their game.
I guess we’ll know what plans there are a little bit, if this report comes true. If these tips, in addition to some of the other indicators we’ve had over the years, point to what Sony is working on, it might be quite interesting to see.
