PRG expands the capabilities of the virtual production studio with L-ISA immersive hyperreal sound technology

LOS ANGELES – August 9, 2021 – PRG, one of the world’s leading providers of entertainment and event technology solutions, has joined L-Acoustics L-ISA Immersive hyperreal sound technology in his virtual production studio in Los Angeles. The ISA Immersive hyperreal sound technology allows artists to create and output multidimensional sound for live and recorded productions of any scale. This advanced audio technology joins PRG extended reality settings to offer a variety of tools for multisensory immersive experiences.

Since 2016, L-ISA’s extensive audio tool ecosystem has allowed audio creators to provide a natural, living experience that heightens emotions and invites the listener to music, enhancing the narration of any production. . More than ten million people have enjoyed L-ISA in more than 6,000 concerts, which have received praise from attendees around the world. In addition to the L-ISA technology permanently available in the Los Angeles studio, which includes an immersive speaker setup and processing hardware, new L-ISA Studio software suite, released in April, makes it easy for sound creators to design immersive audio with 3D control interface and audio processing, all available on a personal computer. Creators can use L-ISA Studio software from any computer, listen to and prepare their binaural sound content using headphones, and then take their creation to the PRG Los Angeles Virtual Production Studio, where it will translate seamlessly to L hardware. -ISA.

“We are thrilled to see PRG adopt L-ISA technology and the L-ISA Studio software package,” says David Brooks, L-Acoustics application manager, Tour Link, USA and Canada. “Improved streaming capabilities place PRG’s Los Angeles virtual production studio well ahead of other studios in offering the most intuitive tools for live and streaming immersive performances.”

This method of sound mixing expands the possibilities of creating spatial audio with a lot of powerful tools for sound creators. With L-ISA, users can conceive, create, iterate, and experiment with their 3D audio work for pre, live, and post-production work. Using L-ISA technology, creators can enhance the audio experience by simultaneously streaming binaural, 5.1 and 7.1 listening formats at the touch of a button; no additional mixing is required.

Combine this sound capability with the PRR xR stage and the chances increase exponentially. The xR Stage is a next-generation tool where teams can create and deliver content for virtual reality (VR), mixed reality (MR) and cinematic reality (CR). Users can generate new environments by incorporating digital objects into the physical world and vice versa. The combination of this next-generation process with the audio capabilities of L-ISA technology advances content production to new levels of immersion.

“The addition of L-ISA technology to PRG’s toolbox sets us apart from other production studios, and I’m thrilled to see and hear the exceptional creative content that will emerge from our LA studio,” he said. Jeroen Hallaert, Vice President of PRG, Production Services.

PRG is the first to officially combine these capabilities in a studio environment, but productions can also use this technology on tours and in spaces.

On June 10 at the Hawthorne Hangar in Los Angeles, PRG and L-Acoustics worked with aerospace company Archer to deploy binaural sound for reveal the company of its avant-garde, fully electric vertical take-off and landing aircraft, Maker.

“In this deployment, the audience in person and those who brought the headphones home experienced live xR and binaural sound in unison, which is a real multisensory journey. It gave spectators the same feeling as a theme park“Hallaert explains. “We were able to do that because, beyond the most advanced gear, we also provided technicians who had the experience in content, lighting and technology to make these tools work perfectly together.”
