Roblox launches its own podcast
this week Roblox released a podcast called “Roblox Tech Talks” with its first episode, “Step Into The Metaverse,” a discussion between CEO Dave Baszucki and Roblox CEO Dan Sturman. New podcast episodes will be released every weekend and according to the company, the podcast will address topics that will analyze in depth the technological advances that are building the metaverse. The next episode will be released on August 4th.
Epic Games buys 3D SketchFab content from the site
Epic Games has bought one of the largest 3D content platforms in the world, Sketchfab. Sketchfab and Epic Games join forces to make 3D and virtual reality content more accessible and increase the creators ’ecosystem. Sketchfab will continue to operate an independent branding service while collaborating with the Unreal Engine team.
Mark Zuckerberg says Facebook will be a metaverse company
This week’s special episode of the podcast The Vergecast included an interview between Platformer’s Casey Newton and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg. During the interview, Zuckerberg shared that in the next 5-10 years Facebook would essentially go from being seen as a social media company to being seen as a metaverse company. Zuckerberg is committed to the metaverse as the successor to today’s mobile internet and claims that he imagined the metaverse from a young age.
HaptX raises $ 12 million for haptic gloves
HaptX, a Seattle-based company that manufactures haptic gloves for virtual reality and robotics, has raised an additional $ 12 million. The company’s customers use haptic gloves to train their staff, design and test new vehicles, and control robots remotely, among other uses. HaptX will use this funding to manufacture a second run of the HaptX Gloves DK2, which is currently out of stock.
Fox will launch the avatar singing competition this fall
This fall, Fox is launching a new reality singing contest called Alter Ego, but there’s a problem. Participants will act on the alter egos of their avatar. Alibaba Launches NFT Real Estate
Some years ago, Alibaba created the Chinese Taobao Maker Festival for young Chinese entrepreneurs to showcase their products. This year, Alibaba included NFT Real Estate in its lineup. Chinese artist Heshan Huang worked with Web3 Games and NEAR Protocol to create NFT virtual buildings, including ten luxury single-family villas, 300 high-end units and 1,000 umbrellas in the Bu Tu Garden virtual community. Bu Tu Garden Community is part of Huang’s NFT ‘Toorich City Series’ collection. Because China is against digital currencies, interested buyers will not pay in cryptocurrency; therefore, customers will have to buy from Taobao website and pay in yuan.

Tom Brady’s NFT platform partners with Lionsgate and DraftKings

Apple receives an official patent for XR headphones with 3D dynamic focus screen
The U.S. Trademark and Patent Office granted Apple a patent related to Mixed Reality (XR) headphones with a dynamic-focus 3D display that projects images directly into the retina. This new system will scan images, pixel by pixel, to the user’s retina, rather than conventional virtual reality systems. Apple’s new project will allow objects and surfaces to appear at different distances from a scene to be projected into the subject’s eyes at the correct depths. Apple’s invention is to overcome the problem of hosting-convergence in augmented reality and virtual reality systems.
The country of Georgia launches wines as NFT
Eastern European country Georgia has partnered with Norway-based blockchain technology platform WiV Technology to launch Georgian wine as an NFT to reach a wider audience. The aim of the country with this association is to bring its wine to a wider audience and raise its reputation. WiV Technology will coin the wine NFT and will also help the Georgia National Wine Agency develop a quality assurance system.
Steve Jobs ’handwritten job application is now an NFT
Steve Jobs ’1973 handwritten job application is up for auction in print and NFT. Jobs wrote the job application after leaving Reed College and three years before finding Apple. The auction website sells an original copy and the NFT version to see what the highest prices are. London-based businesswoman Olly Joshi organized the auction which will close on July 28th.

Wolf3D announces the new Avatars hub
Wolf 3D, in the Ready Player Me studio, has added a Hub to bring your avatar to 260 XR games and apps. Players can now create their own custom avatars with hairstyles, skin tones, facial features and clothing that will be able to travel between video games, virtual reality experiences and other applications using a single virtual identity. Wolf3D eliminates the need to create a new avatar for each new application or video game. The UK’s start seeks to “invade” other metavers by using tokens
UK-based startup vEmpire DDAO went underground this week and became only the fourth protocol of 450 to be included in Unicrypts Incubated ILO Launchpad.
