The Cannes Virtual Pavilion features Taiwanese films

Taiwan’s creative content agency presents a selection of Taiwanese films through a virtual pavilion at the Cannes Film Festival, which opened yesterday in France.

The online presentation features 30 local filmmakers, two independent directors and 65 works, according to the agency.

“The training shows the breadth and creative energy of Taiwan’s cultural content,” he said.

Born to be Human (Born and Human) by director Lily Ni (倪 耀) discusses gender identity issues, while Dead & Beautiful (詭 祭) by director David Verbeek is a vampire-type thriller, the agency said.

For the Marche du Film’s Cannes XR program, the festival has partnered with NewImages Festival and Tribeca Film Festival to create XR3, a virtual exhibition showcasing the best RV creations, the agency said.

The partnership is “a clear indication of the importance of immersive content development around the world,” said Lee Ming-che (李明哲), executive director of the Taiwan Creative Content Agency.
