The new French Valley library opens this weekend

The Riverside County Library System will host a grand opening ceremony for the new French Valley Library on Saturday (July 31) at 10 a.m. The new library is located at 31526 Skyview Road in the French Valley. The public is invited to attend.

“The French Valley Library is the most anticipated new facility in the entire Third District,” said Supervisor Chuck Washington, Third District. “The value that libraries bring to communities cannot be overstated! However, we have done so without asking taxpayers to reach out to their pockets.”

The new French Valley Library is a modern 25,000-square-foot aeronautical-themed library, which includes services that the community is in high demand for. These amenities include private study rooms, community meeting rooms, opportunity rooms, plug-in technology furniture, public computers, space for teen libraries, space for children’s libraries and a storytelling room for children. The new library includes more than 52,000 materials in the collection.

The inaugural outdoor event will be free and indoor activities for families will follow the ceremony until 2 p.m. be available for patrons, if requested.

The ceremony will include statements from Supervisor Washington, Riverside County Office of Economic Development Director Suzanne Holland, and Riverside County Librarian Barbara Howison.

Hours of celebration of the grand opening:

10 am: Opening ceremony and ribbon cutting

11 a.m .: The library is officially open to the public

11:10 a.m .: Virtual reality experience – Room 2 of opportunities – ongoing

STEAM activity: Scribe Circuit – Opportunity Room 2 – in progress

STEAM activity: 3Doodler pens – Room 1 of opportunities – in progress

STEAM activities: Legos, Building Straws, Interactive Cube – Children’s area – in progress

Turn the wheel of the prize: in progress

Scavenger Hunt- ongoing

Blackout Poetry Activity: large study room

11:10 a.m .: Storytime Preschool – Storytime Room

12 noon: Aviation Talk – Meeting Room

1:30 pm: Bilingual Preschool Story Time – Storytime Room

Library cards will be issued between the opening and 1:30 p.m.

“The French Valley Library will be a wonderful educational and recreational resource for this community,” said county librarian Barbara Howison. “It’s a meeting place with programs and materials for all ages. After spending some time reviewing the history of the area, I’m thrilled to be a part of this spectacular project. The team hopes to open its doors and greet patrons and visitors “

The French Valley Library is one of three libraries that were built for the Riverside County library system at the same time through a public-private partnership with incredible partners, including Omni West Real Estate, CFP, McCarthy Building Companies, Inc. and Cannon Design. The other two new libraries are in Desert Hot Springs and Menifee.

Opening hours at the French Valley Library:

Monday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Tuesday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Wednesday: 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Thursday – 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Saturday: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Sunday: closed
