Nerf toy explosives have shifted to PCs and smartphones and are now targeting virtual reality. Nerf Ultimate Championship is a new multiplayer shooter coming to Oculus Quest in 2022. The new game, announced in the Upload VR sideboard, weapons players with new and old explosives for team-based combat in the sands of Nerf, full of fans.
A short revelation trailer features a four-player team, with neon-lit costumes that resemble the iconic Disney costumes Tron, block and charge before battle. The game comes from the virtual reality studio Secret Location, which won an Emmy for its work in The Sleepy Hollow virtual reality experience. Hasbro acquired the developer in 2019 as part of its $ 3.8 billion deal for Entertainment One, a media giant best known for children’s shows Peppa Pig i PJ Masks.
That’s all we know about the new title for now, with more details expected before its release. More than twenty years after the release of Nerf Arena Blast on PC, it looks like Hasbro is taking a new stab at gaming. In 2018 it even introduced an augmented reality game powered by smartphones for its Nerf Laser Ops Pro blasters.
Following virtual reality and moving away from the juggling it is Fortnite it could be a solid strategy. Although VR already has a number of notable features, including Battle Royale Population: one – recently recovered by Oculus from Facebook through the acquisition of game developer Bigbox VR – and a team-based shooter Hyper Dash.
