Hollywood-based virtual reality games studio ForeVR Games Inc. raised $ 7 million in additional seed funding to grow its studio and its list of offerings.

The round was led by venture capital firm Bessemer Venture Partners based in Redwood City, with the participation of investors, including New York-based Galaxy Interactive, Zynga Inc. founder Mark Pincus, and founder of Twitch Interactive Inc., Emmett Shear. the investment brings the total funding of ForeVR to $ 8.5 million.


The company plans to use the funding to develop its team, develop new games, expand its products to additional platforms and continue to upgrade its recently released VR bowling game, ForeVR Bowl.


“ForeVR Bowl and the rest of the ForeVR line represent the best possible with VR games and I think they will be as important to this medium as Zynga was to mobile,” said Sam Englebardt, general partner at Galaxy Interactive. statement.
Founded in 2020, ForeVR aims to translate popular and classic face-to-face games into virtual reality formats.


The company is led by Marcus Segal, former senior vice president of operations at Zynga, and Mike Pagano Doom, former CEO of Built Games. Segal is the first executive of ForeVR and Doom, the creative director. The company employs 25 people.


ForeVR launched its first game, ForeVR Bowl, in May on the Irvine-based Oculus VR platform, and plans to launch the game soon on Steam’s digital video game distribution service.
