What we do in the shadows Teaser of season 3 published by FX

FX has given us a quick teaser for the third season of its hit series, What we do in the shadows. The 30-second spot reminds us of the humor so indicative of the series, created by Jemaine Clement, star of the original 2014 film directed by Taika Waititi. Although brief, the teaser creates anticipation for the absurd boastings that can be expected from Nandor the relentless (Kayvan Novak), Flag (Matt Berry), Nadja (COM)Natasia Demetriou), Colin Robinson (Mark Proksch), and the endearing human Guillermo De la Cruz (Harvey Guillén).

The teaser opens with a quick glimpse of the sun and a voice-over from Nandor. The joy of seeing the bright trees and a beautiful woman is ephemeral, however, when she quickly enters a nearby wall, as it is revealed that she is wearing virtual reality headphones. The 30-second teaser feels like a cold opening for one of the episodes and can easily lead to some hilarity for characters with virtual reality.

The plot details of the third season are sparse, and this teaser doesn’t really provide any lighting (for the audience or Nandor). The second season left some stories hanging, especially that of William, who has revealed his true identity as a relative of Van Helsing. During the second season, zombies, necromancers and witches were introduced, as well as Laszlo’s double life as Jackie Daytona in the state of Pennsylvania, with Transylvanian sleep.

What we do in the shadows he has also developed roles for many great guest stars, from Simon the Deviant (Nick Kroll) to Topher (Haley Joel Osment), and it was recently revealed on the Smartless podcast that David Cross had a place last season. Will the lively Tobias Fünke stay with the deaf Colin Robinson?

What we do in the shadows premiered in March 2019 on FX and was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for the second season. Aside from directing the original film, Waititi also directed the premiere and end of the first season, showcasing his talent for creating new stories and characters in this world. FX and the New Zealand director clearly have a strong working relationship as he helped pasteurize the upcoming series Reserve dogs with Sterling Harjo. This series tells the story of four Indigenous teenagers who grew up in rural Oklahoma and, if the trailer is an indication, the network has another hit in hand.

What we do in the shadows will premiere on September 2 on FX and the next on FX on Hulu. Watch the teaser below.
