Startup XR StatusPRO has announced that it has raised an initial investment of $ 5.2 million. While the company hasn’t fully revealed its product, it says it uses AR and VR to create immersive sports workouts and gaming experiences. The company claims its technology will usher in “a new era of football,” leading to an association with NFL quarterback Lamar Jackson.
Earlier this month StatusPro announced an initial $ 5.2 million investment, based on a partnership with NFL quarterback Lamar Jackson, to create the Lamar Jackson Experience, which the company describes as “a set of first-person virtual reality products that include a virtual reality game at home, arcade games and live activation.”
The initial round was led by KB Partners and TitletownTech, with the participation of Greycroft, Verizon Ventures, Haslam Sports Group, 49ers Enterprises, SC Holdings and “additional strategic celebrity investors.”
StatusPro, a minority property, says the capital “will accelerate the expansion of products designed to reshape the way players and coaches prepare for games, while defining a new form of engagement between athletes and fans.”
The company focuses on both sports training and XR games. In terms of sports training, the company has not publicly detailed its platform, but states that “it uses real-time player data to drive holographic experiences that allow players to simulate any practice or game scenario without physical impact. which involves playing. the game. “StatusPro claims its technology is being used by” several “NFL teams, including Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens.
These XR training experiences also form the basis for fan-centered gaming experiences. This seems to be the idea behind the Lamar Jackson Experience, which the company has mocked but not revealed at all. According to the company’s website, the experience “will be coming to Oculus soon” (and probably to Quest specifically, as it’s the handset shown in the teaser).
“Like most people of my generation, I’m a great player and the first time I did a demo of the StatusPro experience I was impressed by the realism and fun it had,” Lamar Jackson said in the its StatusPro collaboration announcement last year. “Since I was little, I’ve always wanted to play in the NFL and now that I do, I’m excited to share my experience with fans and especially kids through this virtual reality gaming platform.”
StatusPro states that “Lamar Jackson has been an integral part of the development, strategic planning and promotion of these experiences and a true partner in all aspects.”
